Come, let’s visit Basilan!

Looking for a getaway place this summer?

For the looming closure of Boracay, many tourists are looking for a place to unwind and feel the breeze of the beach and its white sand. And Province of Basilan came to my mind, as it has many tourist spots not yet discovered. And continue to be undiscovered if we won’t dare to explore.

Basilan province is part of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. It is situated in the Southern coast of Zamboanga Peninsula. But we’ve heard a lot of battles, kidnappings and beheading in Basilan for the previous years. That makes us feel unsafe to visit the place.

Last April 22, 2018, an interview by CNN news to BGen. Peter Suchianco, technical and administrative service commander of the Armed Forces Reserve, he said, “Basilan is open for tourism. Basilan is open…Is clean, it’s cleared of terrorists and is open to welcome outsiders or tourists or even local tourists from all over the country” image associated with Basilan, there is a place in the province which many residents call a paradise. And he referred it to Langgas Island of Basilan.

With that case, Basilan is no longer in a danger zone, as it was before. So, why don’t we give it a try? Let’s visit Langgas Island, which falls between Jolo and Basilan Province. And we can even explore to different tourist spots in the area, which includes the white beach of Malamawi in Isabela City, the hidden paradise  and the Bulingan Falls of Lamitan.  Those places are awesome!

We can reach Basilan through its main gateway, Zamboanga City. From Manila, take a flight to Zamboanga, then a 30-minute ferry to Isabela City, the capital city of Basilan. So, what are we waiting for? Pack up your things and let’s explore the hidden islands of Basilan.
