Journey to Weight Loss

This is a blog about a certain thing that I have been working on recently. I’m still working on it but I just want to share a little bit of my progress.

The last quarter of 2017 is when I “lived a life” as what they say. I was able to travel to different places in and outside of the country. I did absolutely everything that I want. Factors that helped me have this kind of opportunity was an online job where I can control most of my time, and also because my partner was with me for a quick vacation.

In line with travelling and doing the things that I want, was binge eating. There’s food everywhere, irresistible, mouth-watering ones that will make you want to eat them. I also got a chance to learn how to cook which was an easy way to satisfy my cravings. To make the long story short, just within two months I gained 8 kilos or 17.6 lbs but that was before the holiday season. And right after the holiday season I gained 2 more kilos or 4.4 lbs. To think, I was originally overweight which makes it more hilarious.

It’s quite alarming but it really didn’t hit me at first. Then, one day I was browsing through my Facebook and I read an article about a disease that is being caused by obesity. I also figured that it’s not considered as critical illness in my insurance. I got scared of the consequences of being obese that I will reap at the end if I continue the bad habits. And that was when I realize that I am neglecting my health big time and I need to change it.  I immediately made a research about how to lose weight in a healthy way.

So I started transitioning from junk foods to healthy foods. I also made time to exercise at least 30 to 40 minutes a day. Not really an intense workout, just a simple walk or jog inside my place will do. There’s a video that serves as a guide to my exercise. Then I bought this watch which is also a pedometer at the same time so I was able to track how much steps I made daily. There are times that I feel lazy or sometimes I crave for junk foods, but I always remind myself the reason why I began with this.

I always thought of losing weight to become healthy but eventually turned out to becoming healthy to lose weight just like what a popular doctor has said. So far, I have lost 7 kilos or 15.4 lbs . I still have to work a lot though to reach the normal weight, but I am very happy with the results. I can also feel that my clothes aren’t that tight anymore. My family has seen how much  I have trimmed down. And it feels really good, inside and out.

This journey of losing weight has actually taught me a lot, and I’m continuously learning. Health is wealth. It’s a cliche but it’s really true. Especially, for the people working at home this is a reminder as well. All through the day we’re at home and we barely have a chance to walk just like the typical people working in the office. We should also treat our bodies as a form of investment, if we’re not fit to work, then how can we earn. Or maybe we will be earning a lot but might be spending most of it to hospital bills or medications.
