When I got pregnant with my first child, I thought to myself that one of the best things I could do as a mother is to breastfeed my baby. I’ve always thought of it as an unselfish act of sharing a big part of me and believed it to be one of motherhood’s essential cornerstones. I knew back then that the only way to fulfill my desire was to stay at home. It was not an easy decision to make because I needed to work and help my husband in order to get by. But I thank God for opportunities like teaching online because it allowed me to work from home while taking care of my baby. The inexplicable joy of watching my child grow healthily and smartly and knowing how much I’ve contributed to it is just so fulfilling.
For me, nothing beats the happiness of going to bed with my loved ones and waking up beside them the next morning. It’s a simple pleasure, I know, but it’s one of the greatest blessings I’m grateful for every day. Parents, especially us mothers, are always at our children’s beck and call during the early stage of their lives and being able to attend to their needs while earning is probably the best perk of being a work-at-home mom. Don’t you agree? I’m sure many of you can resonate with me and that’s probably why many of us are dreaming to work from the comfort of our homes.
Here I am now, a mother of two; happily breastfeeding my second baby and still working full-time at home. I may not be earning much at the moment but I have enough reasons to continue striving hard until I provide the best for my family. My “emotional whys” will definitely get me going.
