Happy to Live Glad to Give (HLGG) is a group of friends who loves to travel to far-flung places throughout the country to reach out to pupils in selected public schools. We bring gifts to the kids such as school kits, bags, books, slippers, and toys. Teachers will receive teachers’ kit, too. We organize community outreach twice or thrice a year during long weekends like Holy week, 3rd to 4th week of August and the like.
The group is celebrating 10.5 years and counting. Last August 2019, the group conducted its 29th Season in Catangnan Elementary School located at General Luna, Surigao Del Norte., Philippines.
Party and Games
Because December is the busy month of the year, HLGG Thanksgiving and Christmas Get Together was celebrated at Mt Zion Function Hall, BSA Towers Mandaluyong City last Sunday, January 12, 2020. The program started with a pot-luck lunch then followed by games lead by our Game Master couple, Matt and Sheena.
There are two competitive groups who played ‘Pitik calamansi challenge’. The mechanics of the game, you have to turn 5x pointing your one hand in the floor and cover your one eye with the other hand. After 5 turns, run to the bottle topped with calamansi, then ‘pitik’ the calamansi without removing the cover of your one eye. Group 2 won in this game!! Next game was, ‘Transferring t-shirt challenge’ each group has 1 XL size shirt. The first person in the line should wear the shirt then he will pass it to the next person by connecting both their hands out to the first person to the next, then to the 3rd person and so on. Fortunately, Group 2 won again in this game!!
Everybody took a short break from the game, and we are entertained by Cheng-Cheng by her dance number: Tala by Sarah G.
Last game was a piece of calamansi should be placed in between the side of the knee then you have to jump going to the paper cup and shoot the calamansi in the cup. This time our team won the game!
White Elephant Gift Exchange
The highlight was the White Elephant gift giving. Mechanics: gifts were numbered randomly; HLGG members had to pick a number in a small box. Whoever picked no.1 will get a gift number 1. Then whoever picked no. 2 will pick a gift labeled no. 2 and so on. Of course, you have to open the gift first and share with the group your memorable HLGG experience. The trick is you can steal a gift from those who already picked a gift in exchange for what you get. Please note that the gift can be steal only twice, it means if I’m the second person who steals that item, automatically its MINE like in my case the collapsible rubber cup (Stojo) was steal by Girl-B from Girl-A. And I want to steal it to Girl-B, so I got the collapsible rubber cup!!!
HLGG Next Generations
The get-together made possible by 25 HLGG members and 5 next gen kids, they are Kahel (his second time to attend the party), Chen-Chen, Sofia, Baby Pau-Pau, and Baby Khalil. Hope to see you guys on the next outreach and party! I can’t wait to see these kids doing community works in the future. All glory and praises to the Lord!!!
